CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS!! GENERAL NOTES (All previous information posted on this site
can be found in the ARCHIVES section)
Days like this are what really make you understand what the JGSL is
for. You see so many girls having so much fun. Seeing
all the girls mingle with each other after the games, smiling,
joking - it is just incredible. Thank you to everyone for your
support of your daughters and we look forward to seeing you next
year.
Please keep checking back often as I
still have literally thousands of photos that I will be putting out.
If you have a daughter that played against Omni B League, JLS C
League, or Rego K league, then there is a chance you will see your
daughter! I will also be keeping everyone up to date as to
what is in store for next year!!

What a night of softball. Haymaker vs Omni was
a great matchup. Haymaker took game 1 with a very convincing
display of teamwork. Their fielding and hitting were
noticeably improved. They took advantage of opportunity -
including a couple of great plays at the plate (3rd base coach was
maybe a little greedy?!?) Omni made a run for it in the bottom
of the 7th, but Haymaker held on to win game 1.
Game 2 started and was a close battle
the entire game. The biggest change seemed to be in Omni's
defense. With only 9 girls, they battled hard, and played some
great defense. Communication was there, and the plays were
made when they needed to be. Omni had a big 5th inning (I
think it was the 5th), but Haymaker did not give up. They
battled back with a 3 run HR in the bottom of the 7th, but Omni
stayed collected, and finished the inning out to hold on to the
victory.
I really want to say how much I
appreciated watching these games. One of the most noticeable,
fun, things I saw was in the bottom of the 6th inning of the 2nd
game, with the game still so close - an Omni player on 2nd joking
and laughing with the SF on Haymaker. Even in a championship
game, and after 3 hours of hard play, the girls were having fun and
not obsessed on the victory. This series to me epitomized what
the JGSL stands for and I am proud to be a part of it! GREAT
JOB GIRLS!!
I will have pictures soon of this
game (it was just too late last night for me to get this done)
I really encourage parents and players to please come watch some of
the other Championship games.
I
started here at this game. I was able to watch the first 3
innings, and I can honestly tell you I did not want to leave.
The game was moving quickly. Not because the girls weren't
hitting, not because of poor pitching, but because of some great
defense. The very first hit was a bomb to left center, only 2
see one of Renu's stars make a spectacular running catch in the
outfield. The first play was symbolic of what the entire game
had in store.
Going to the bottom of the 6th, B.V.
Pain had a 3 run lead, but before the game was over, Renu rallied to
score 2 more. The game ended with a final of 6-5! What
an exciting way to end the season. I hope all these girls are
proud of themselves!
This is where I ended - not because of preference, but because
as D League Commissioner, I needed to be there to hand out trophies.
But this game was another nail biter. Every 1/2 inning, (if I
am correct), saw a lead change. Kohler started out strong, but
Omni came right back and matched in. From the 2nd inning on,
it was a see-saw battle.
I saw some amazing catches, some
great defense, a ton of girls playing their hearts out. A few
plays that really stood out to me was the defense of a girl on the
Kohler team. I'm sorry that I don't know her name, but here
was not a ball that could get past her. She was an amazing
pitcher on top of it. If her play here wasn't enough, consider
that she was playing with a pretty bad sunburn, AND she had missed
the first 2/3 of the season due to injury! WOW.
Omni saw a HR by Kelly Klimo.
And the game was ended on a well executed double play, caught by the
2nd baseman and relayed to the 1st baseman. This game really
had it all - great hitting, great defense, and all the excitement of
a Championship Game. Final Score - 14 - 13 Omni!
Congratulations to all of these girls - they should all be proud.
Championship GAME
This is the game that unfortunately, I got to see the littlest
of. I was able to catch a full inning though. I have yet
to have one of my children play in the E League. I am just
amazed at how well some of these girls can play at the 1st and 2nd
grade level. So many of these girls can catch well, throw even
better, and really seem to be catching on with what do with the
ball.
I do not know the final score of this
game, but I do know that this game was also decided by 1 run.
I believe it was something like 24-23. Again, I wish I had
been 3 people yesterday. It was a shame to miss one minute of
any of these games. Anyone who was there yesterday really got
to see some great softball!!
THE JGSL Board is asking that any parent/player from the JGSL please
fill in the 2 surveys. The board is
always looking for feedback on ways to keep the league up to date,
and to address any concerns that may get overlooked. We have
two surveys, one for the buddy system, the other for the end of the
year managers report. The form is ONLINE now, so it only takes
a minute or less per form. Any information filled out is kept
anonymous. If you want to leave your name that's great, but
not necessary. Your input is greatly appreciated.
IMPORTANT WEB SITE INFO - PLEASE READ
In an effort to
streamline our standings, schedules, and overall team stats,
we are keeping all team information on an separate website
designed to hold team stats. The links at the top of
the page will take you to the correct league. I will
have links that will take you directly to Shedules,
Standings, or Teams. Once you get to the site though,
it is pretty easy to navigate to information you are looking
for. I encourage everyone to check out the site before
the season starts to become familiar with the site.
Managers will be responsible for entering the scores of
their home games .
My MISTAKE - WINNING
TEAM IS TO REPORT SCORE Your respective commissioners' will
be sending out instructions soon on how to do this.
A little about the JGSL.
JGSL is a community SLOW pitch softball
league. The leagues start as early as Kindergarten,
and continue through freshman year of college.
We are committed to maintaining a league
that is challenging to the veterans, but allows beginners
and 'newbies' to also play.
Teams are not hand picked, but chosen at
random to help build friendships, teamwork, and to allow new
girls they chance to play and learn on a competitive level
without being too intimidating.
Board members meet once a month and are
always looking for volunteers to help out.
